Everyone knows Wildwood for its beaches, boardwalk rides, and summertime fun. But if you ask our team at Mahalo Diamond Beach, we’ll tell you there’s even more to love.

Over the years, we’ve hosted thousands of visitors. Along the way, we’ve discovered some of the best-kept hidden gems in town. They’re the spots our staff loves to recommend when guests ask, “What should we really do while we’re here?”

From historic lighthouses to locals’ favorite sweet shops, these activities let you see a side of Wildwood most visitors miss.

Fun for Families

Families will find no shortage of hidden gem activities that children of all ages will enjoy.

Jurassic Adventure Golf in North Wildwood isn’t your typical mini-golf course. It features mega-sized dinosaurs throughout the course that kiddos will get a kick out of. The course also includes some interactive elements to add a creative challenge to the standard game.

The Seaport Aquarium on the Boardwalk is another kid-friendly activity. It features exhibits with sea life, including sharks, turtles, and stingrays. There’s even a touch pool to get up close with the sea creatures.

Both are great choices when looking for fun stuff to do in Wildwood after a day on the beach.

Discover Local History and Culture

Wildwood has a unique history, and several local museums help bring that story to life. These museums offer a glimpse into a different side of Wildwood.

The Doo Wop Preservation League Museum is a must-see. Inside, you’ll find neon signs and mid-century memorabilia from the 1950s and ’60s. It’s a great place to learn about the eras that helped shape Wildwood’s character.

Aviation buffs will enjoy visiting the Naval Air Station Wildwood (NASW) Aviation Museum at the Cape May Airport. You can explore several restored planes and even climb into a real air control tower.

Sunset Lake Park is a quiet escape from the busy boardwalk. You can walk along the paths or relax by the water and watch the sun dip below the horizon. In the summer, they offer live music on Monday nights.

While the Cape May Lighthouse gets all the attention, the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse is also worth a visit. The lighthouse was built in 1874 and remains an active lighthouse today. Take a stroll in the gardens surrounding the house or enjoy the ocean views.

Sweet Treats and Local Flavors

A beach vacation isn’t complete without a sweet treat. Laura’s Fudge Shop is known as one of the best spots around. Their homemade treats have delighted visitors for decades. Stop by for fudge, saltwater taffy, or chocolates.

If you’re visiting in the summer, the Downtown Wildwood Farmer’s Market is a great way to savor local flavors. Over 70 vendors set up downtown each week, offering fresh produce, baked goods, and crafts.

Kick Back by the Beach

One of the best-kept secrets is The Star Beach Bar at ICONA Diamond Beach. It’s one of the few spots in the area where you can enjoy a drink right on the sand. With regular live music and tasty cocktails, it’s a lovely place to relax. There’s even a nearby tunnel of palm trees leading to the beach for a fun photo opportunity!

Plus, as a sister hotel to ICONA, guests at Mahalo Diamond Beach can charge their drinks right to their room.
